Today was Adela’s birthday. I know because she, our friend Tania and I shared the same birthday. We were lucky to celebrate together when we all worked in Bogota. I remember us talking for hours. Some serious issues (Colombia was not an easy place to work in) and also some of the absurdities of life. Sometimes we laughed so much, tears ran down our faces and we almost choked. Then we all moved on to different places. I saw Adela in Geneva and later kept in touch by WhatsApp when she moved to Vermont and I retired in Madrid. Her messages were gentle, always warm and sometimes very funny. We always remembered our birthdays, of course! I shall miss her. Rest in peace my wonderful friend.
