Adela and I hiked in northern Vietnam for three days. We were slipping and sliding on the wet paths and hoping not to have a Leach sneak in under our pant leg. We went through three indigenous villages. We stayed at Hmong village where we stayed with a Hmong family and slept on little mats with a mosquito net. We barely slept that night because the baby of the family was sick and was crying all night. We didn’t mind, we wanted to comfort the baby. It was wonderful meeting the Hmong family and playing with the children. We also stayed in a bamboo hut in a village of the black Thai people. And after that we stayed in a beautiful hotel in the rice patties in a town called Mei Chau. Then we went on to party in Hanoi with a young Turkish man and a young British guy we befriended. A random Taxi took us to a pop-up disco on a houseboat and some river around Hanoi. It was hot and sweaty with a lot of techno music playing. I slipped on the sweaty floor, got up and kept dancing! We had so much fun! I have so much to share about our travels. I miss Adela every single day and will never stop missing her! She was somebody that I could say anything to and we would laugh and laugh and laugh! There was never any misinterpretation of our weird senses of humor. So on the road, the more uncomfortable it was, the more we laughed! We walked around Hanoi in the dead of night in 100° heat and 100% humidity singing the Doors song “This is the End”in a nod to the movie “the Deer Hunter“. And as a remembrance of the Vietnam war. Adela shared that she wanted to be a war correspondent before she wanted to be a lawyer. I love you so much, Adela. I will be climbing Mt. Toubkal in northern Morocco again in honor of you. That was also an outstanding trek that we did together. So super fun even though I was lagging way behind you in our guide. And we couldn’t stop laughing when we stopped in that village in the Atlas Mountains. Just laughing for no reason. Our guide thought we were weird and I didn’t blame him! Lol.😂
