(I shared the following on Facebook last week when I learned of Adela's death, so some of you may already have read it. I know Adela wouldn't mind me quoting/plagiarizing myself, and I also know we would have mocked me a bit and laughed together.)
Have you ever met someone you really hit it off with and thought, I should spend more time with her? And then you both get busy and you don't find the time and one of you moves and you lose contact and then one day you hear, randomly, third hand through mutual friends, that the person you liked so very very much isn't alive any more?
RIP Adela Carrasco.
You were a beautiful soul. You had a wonderful laugh and a very big heart and a sharp mind. You took chances. You weren't afraid to do things on your own. I am so very very sorry I didn't do whatever I needed to do to get to know you better as we aged. I'm also sorry you never had a chance to meet Jack, my big black cat, whom you would have loved and who would have loved you (and he's very picky). RIP, mujer, hermana. So many will miss you.
